musical collaborators - aim high

Who are our DREAM musical collaborators? Seriously, no limits. Who wouldn't want the opportunity to write a sci-fopera?

Check out Steve Reich. http://www.stevereich.com/ This guy would be fucking incredible. He has a couple samples on his website. I'm also uploading a few tracks to the sci-files folder on docs.

He is also a very sweet man. I had the chance to meet him a few times when I was working at MassMoCA and Bang on a Can was in residence. Which makes me think that Evan Zipporan might be an amazing collaborator.

A perhaps-closer-to-home composer and disciple of Terry Riley (whom I sometimes prefer to Steve Reich) is Michael Stirling, with whom I know Nick and other NWTC folks have non-muscial relationships. Michael is incredible and could also teach us raga singing, if we decide to go that route....

ah! I almost took a class from Michael Stirling a year or so ago, and it was unfortunately canceled so I couldn't take it, but I can attest to his loveliness as a person. John Berendzen has studied with him a lot also.

Fever Ray (she's half of The Knife)
Led Zeppelin
Jane
Can
Amon Duul

I've been wanting more lush sounds than we've been working with so far. Also vocals. The idea of having live music is really exciting - not just someone DJing, but an actual band. Live drums especially.

Julee Cruise is the person who did the music for Twin Peaks and (I think) other David Lynch films. I just found out that David Lynch provided a lot of the lyrics for her songs in his films. Interesting.
